Guessing The Great God

March 28, 2022 5:00 pm - March 31, 2022 7:00 pm

The workshop aimed to study the conflict between ‘Emancipation promised in the pursuit of divinity' and ‘The enslavement and identity-politics derived in the name of God’. Why do some people find the idea of ‘God’ as a means to induce fear, and yet why do others find the idea of ‘God’ as an inspiring source of strength? How come the practice of devotion on hand takes the shape of empty, assertive, repetitive ritualism and yet devotional practices have also given shape to creative, artistic, literary, performative marvels and cultural diversity? What is the difference between the God of mystics, the God of orthodox priests, the God of politics and the God of an everyday individual?
