Shiva Gor was the artist in residence at the Conflictorium for the month of May.
Shiva Gor is a Mumbai based artist and was born in Tanda(टांढा), a town located in the state of Maharashtra, in 1986. He belongs to Gor Banjara culture, a part of international Romani folk, wherein his mother tongue is called; Penar Vani;(पेनार वाणी). Subset to the Indo-Aryan group, the language doesn’t have a native script.
Shiva extensively works on the aesthetics of Gor Banjara culture and Roma Community. Having completed his Art Teacher Diploma from Latur in 2006 he joined Sir. J.J. School of Art for his further studies, in Mumbai. He completed his Bachelors and Masters of Fine Art, specializing in Painting, in 2010 and 2012, respectively. After finishing his Post Graduate Diploma in Modern and Contemporary Art History from Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum in 2013, he then shifted his base to Delhi.
