INTERRUPTIONS
26/09/26 - 24/12/26
A line does not arrive all at once. It moves slowly from the map to the body, until the ink becomes a way of standing, speaking, deciding who sits at the table, who draws water, and who stays. This movement succeeds by going unnoticed – becoming fact, simply how things are now on either side.
The works here are an interruption to that movement – not illustrations of the line, not attempts to erase it, but a khalal - a deliberate disturbance in its path. Each image, film, gesture, and object stops the story mid-sentence, just as it tries to convince you that the person across the line now differs enough to be feared, used, or forgotten. The work doesn't argue back. It simply holds the gesture.
Interruptions brings together works by 17 artists from across the country exploring the mediums of images, moving images, archives, comics, books, and objects, which explore the lines we have created amongst ourselves and within us.
Through photographs, archives, sculptures, comics, and audio-visual media, the artists examine how personal histories, political volatility, climate trauma, and social boundaries shape human experience. From movements and segregated histories to reflections on gender, caste, and leisure - the collection invites audiences to reconsider belonging and exclusion, to re-think why the commodification of time, space and our basic sense of dignity is taken for granted.
INTERRUPTIONS will be open from 26th September 2026 to 24th December 2026.
